Obsessed with Sol! It's our neighborhood Mexican spot! My favorite things to get are the fajitas, shrimp taquitos, and their elote corn! I also love their vegetable quesadilla. They do have really fun cocktails whether it's a blackberry ginger margarita or a simple espresso martini! We always bring the dog so their covered outdoor patio is always nice with heaters! Inside is also a dim lit area that has a cozy and romantic vibe for dates! The service is usually quick and good whenever we stop in! I recommend this if you're looking for quality Mexican bites and a relaxing vibe!!

Came here with my boyfriend for lunch before the Rams game and the food was delicious and service was excellent.

I was with a friend looking for a sweet little spot to enjoy some coffee and dessert when I walked by SOL and suddenly got happy travel flashbacks of Mexico City so I convinced my friend to try this place. There's something special about enjoying a nice cup of coffee with your bestie without the typical American coffee shop rush in the background. We chose a nice little spot in the outdoor area by the cozy fireplace and ordered two desserts to try. Mind you, I'm already resembling a pillsbury biscuit container since the Holidays but here I was ready to savor every last calorie. We ordered the churro and banana pudding desserts with black coffee which comes with creamer and sugar (nothing fancy here so if you're looking for coffee in your creamer go to Starbucks). The churro dessert did not disappoint. I have to say I haven't had a churro that good since I was in Mexico, it was perfectly crunchy, soft in the middle, and topped with vanilla ice cream. *A round of applause for the dessert chef* The banana pudding had a hint of chocolate but let me tell you about this whipped topping...wow, just beautiful. This dessert is an elevated version of your classic recipe, it was not overly sweet and super creamy. The service was impeccable, our waitress Anna was so kind and helpful. Thank you! We didn't try any main or apps but the plates that walked past us smelled divine.

It was a special occasion as I was meeting with a very famous YouTuber from Japan, (Tu Compa Shinpei). He was making a stop in Los Angeles, coming back from a few events in Las Vegas and before leaving back to Japan. We decided Sol Cocina was the perfect place for us to have dinner, a few tequila shots and an amazing conversation along with amazing dishes. And there you have it, El Show De Oscar Flores on youtube having a nice dinner with an amazing guy from Japan who speaks six languages, including Spanish and English. The first thing we appreciated was that it was a Friday night, the place was super-packed and we had no reservations. We waited at the bar for our table and it did not even take for us to finish a beer before we were told to walk over to our booth. Let me start with the food. Excellent dishes. All of it was amazing! We ordered Short Rib plate, Asada Street Tacos, Guacamole and one Elote. All the items deserved five stars. But one thing was amazingly great, and that was the service of our waiter, Pedro. He was there for us to bring us more tequila and whatever we needed. Pedro was very knowlegeable about the tequila he recommended and boy, was he right?. He kept them coming and not cheap stuff, it was a very smooth Don Julio 1942 as well as Don Julio 70. I am very pleased with his service and the fact that he contributed to a great meeting with my friend by making us both feel at home. I was always a frequent visitor of this restaurant since I used to work in the area and lots of our business meetings took place here. I have never been disappointed. The other excellent thing was the ambiance. Although it was packed, it was still quiet enough for us to hear each other without having to yell. Kudos to Sol Cocina, Pedro and everyone else for a great service. Now I know where to go for more meetings with all these YouTubers. Gracias!!

Okay, let's talk about Sol Mexican Cocina because this spot is constantly calling my name. My goal for the new year? Make this one of my regular hangouts. I mean, I walk or drive by it daily, so it's basically fate. The vibe? Perfection. Inside, it's all moody and dimly lit, just the right touch of sultry. Outside on the patio, it's lively, breezy, and so refreshingly open--it's like stepping into a mini vacation. It's the kind of place where you can drop in solo and feel totally comfortable, but it's also perfect for gathering your crew. Honestly, the energy here is magnetic. And the service? Absolutely stellar. Where did Sol find these waiters-- handsome, charming, and totally on top of their game. No complaints here. The entire staff radiates good vibes. . Now let's talk food and drinks, because WOW. The presentation is a total sensory experience--it's almost too pretty to eat... almost. And the drinks? Fab. I'm obsessed with the Blackberry Ginger Margarita! Everything about this place just hits. Great food, killer drinks, amazing energy--it's an all-senses experience. Looking forward to many visits!

I love SOL! A group of us came here and we had the best time! The drinks were flowing and very yummy. The appetizers were amazing and there were so many to choose from. The Wagyu steak was cooked perfectly! Our server was very knowledgeable with the menu and made amazing recommendations! The ambience was incredible and it was definitely a vibe! I cannot wait to come back !

It's hard to find a good happy hour with lots of options and good prices! The chips with salsa and black bean dip were a great way to start. The shrimp taquitos were cheesy and saucy with mashed avocado to dip! The firecracker quesadilla was huge! Cheesy, lots of chicken, pico, and sauce. The fish tacos were delicious, and so was the lunch torta. Everything was eaten and nothing left behind. My only (kind of) complaint is that everything had a similar style. All the dishes seemed to have in common pico, hot sauce, cheese, shredded lettuce. It's not a huge deal, but I do wish they were a little more customized than generalized with the same ingredients over and over again. However, Sol is one of the only Mexican restaurants with a big inexpensive menu, good quality food, and service.

Enjoyed my time at SOL Mexican Cocina! We got the recommendation from people at the hotel we stayed at and it was a great recommendation! The food was so good! I was able to try a lot of the different menu items. First they start off with chips and salsa and they give you two different types of salsa. We had margaritas since we came during the happy hour. They have a nice happy hour menu with good prices. I had the watermelon margarita. We also tried the hot and raw ceviche which had raw fish and fruit and it was delicious! I loved the mixture of fresh fruit with avocado and fish with lime. It came in a drinking glass so this made it difficult to get the ceviche out since we were sharing as a table. I ended up getting the fish Gobernador for my meal which came with rice and beans. Nice simple fish taco with a lot of flavor. I was also able to try the chicken tortilla soup and the duck from the Canarditas duck taco. It was a bit impractical since they serve the duck on a bone with the tortilla, but maybe you get the best flavor by leaving the duck on the bone. It was delicious! Highly recommend this place if you're the area and in the mood for some great Mexican!!

SOL was a great spot to try in Playa Vista. Located in the heart of Playa Vista shopping and residential area, it's a world of its own. Let's jump right into this review. What did we have? GRILLED SWEET CORN tossed with butter, lime, chiles, cotija cheese, chipotle drizzle & scallions - $11 - Very good, cut right off the cob in front of you. SHORT RIBS 'BARBACOA' slow-cooked short ribs, chiles, guacamole, cotija cheese, sweet potato, onions & cilantro - $32 - Seasoned well and tender. Definitely recommend trying. SHRIMP CHILE RELLENO grilled poblano chiles, arroz verde, pico de gallo, cheese & diabla sauce - $26 - I was disappointed with this dish. It's cheesy. The cheese overpowered the other ingredients. Shrimp is chopped up and served inside the grilled/cooked poblano pepper. I should have tried a different dish. I was 50/50 when I ordered it. The waiter stated it was a popular dish. Pros 1. It is located in a nice area. 2. The service was good. The waiter was pleasant and attentive. 3. Restaurant ambiance is very nice. Indoor and outdoor seating. Cons 1. Make sure you read the food descriptions well. When in doubt, ask your server questions about the dishes. 2. It can get loud inside the restaurant when busy. During our visit, the restaurant was busy, and you needed to talk a little higher to hear. I won't fault the restaurant here, outside their control. 3. Parking is not validated by the restaurant...FYI. Despite not enjoying my entree; I enjoyed my overall experience at SOL. I would go back and try a different entree. I would even pick a different time of day or check out their happy hour. Reviewing the website happy hour is M-F, 3-6 PM, with quite a few menu items discounted under $10. You can't beat those types of prices.
